Department of Health COVID-19 Fact Sheet for Older Australians

Department of Health COVID-19 Fact Sheet for Older Australians

Older people (60+ years of age, or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) are more susceptible to getting sick with COVID-19 (coronavirus). The risk of serious illness, and in some reported cases death, increases with age, particularly those who have chronic illnesses or who may have a weakened immune system.

This fact sheet from the Australian Department of Health is for the information and advice of older Australians. It outlines the COVID-19 facts and the measures you, your family and friends can take to protect older Australians. The spread of COVID-19 and Australia’s response is evolving.

The Department will provide updated versions of this fact sheet when new information comes to hand at www.health.gov.au
