Domestic Violence NSW (DVNSW) has released a new, online Good Practice Resource Manual. This provides practice-based resources and tools to support the domestic and family violence (DFV) sector – both frontline workers and service managers – in good practice service delivery.
The Resource Manual sits alongside DVNSW's Good Practice Guidelines for the DFV Sector in NSW.
Included in the manual, DVNSW have jointly produced with People with Disability Australia (PDWA) an updated version of DVNSW's Disability Toolkit (which was originally published in 2015). This toolkit gives guidance on how to make DFV services accessible to people with disability, including a template disability Inclusion Action Plan that DFV services can adapt to their service context.
Although there is limited research regarding rates of DFV against women with disability, the weight of evidence consistently points to women with disability being at greater risk of experiencing DFV than those without disability. It’s therefore important for DFV services to be able to effectively support people with disability and to address any barriers they may face in accessing supports.
