Transport & Travel to Work in Greater Western Sydney

This paper by Westir Ltd aims to provide an insight into how workers travel to their place of work and highlight areas that need attention by policy makers to improve the daily commute of the residents of GWS. The research found that the most common commuting distance for people in GWS travelling to work in 2016 was 10-30km with most of these trips (67.0%) undertaken by vehicle.

Less than one fifth of commuters used public transport (18.6%) and only 2.1% used active transport such as walking or cycling. Most people using active transport (71.0%) had a commuting distance of less than 2.5 kilometres.
