Guiding your Child's Behaviour
27 February 2020, 6.45pm-8.45pm
Revesby Uniting Church, 219 The River Rd, Revesby
Families Together invites mothers, fathers, carers and grandparents with children up to the age of 6 years, living in the Fairfield, Liverpool and former Bankstown LGAs to this information session presented by Petra Will Herat, M.A.Soc.Psych/Education, Graduate Dip Applied Counselling Western Sydney, Parent Educator.
Children sometimes behave in ways that are challenging to parents. As they grow, they learn what acceptable behaviour is and how to control inappropriate behaviour. Research shows that brain development and social development are strongly linked.
Providing safe, loving relationships and experiences supports the growth of the child’s brain. With parental support strong foundations for a child’s social skills, brain ability and mental health can develop.
This session aims to promote positive parenting through behaviour guidance and improve positive outcomes for children and families.
This session will explore:
- What makes a child’s behaviour difficult
- Developmentally appropriate expectations
- The difference between positive behaviour and misbehaviour
- Skills to help you guide your child’s behaviour
