If you’re looking for quality, in-depth information about the health of South West Sydney’s population, look no further than the recently launched “South West Sydney: Our Health” document. The 183-page document is an in-depth study of the health of the SWS’s population, now and into the future, and was prepared by South Western Sydney Primary Health Network (SWS PHN) in conjunction with South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD).
The aim of the document is not only to describe the health of the current population in SWS but to identify the current and future health challenges.
With the planned development of the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, the population in SWS is projected to boom. Between 2016 and 2036, it is forecast that all SWS LGAs except Wingecarribee and Fairfield will experience higher population growth than the rest of the state. This forecasted growth will have significant impact on health services. As such, planning for this projected growth is critical in order to effectively meet the health needs of SWS.
