It all started with a Sydney Olympic Park Authority staff member asking if Baabayn Aboriginal Corporation could brighten up the office and be reminded on a daily basis of Aboriginal Cultural and that we are on Aboriginal land. A small team from Sydney Olympic Park Authority then met with members of Baabayn Mums and Bubs and Murama Cultural Council members to ask if they would like to be involved.
From there, the idea of handprints from staff and the artists were incorporated into a variety of themed artworks that were inspired by different aspects of what people love about Sydney Olympic Park. The artists then went to work to create the most stunning artworks showing the connection we all have to the place and to one other.
The completed artworks are now on display in the various Sydney Olympic Park venues, offices and Education spaces and the Murama Healing Space, to remind everyone on a daily basis that every day, we are on Aboriginal Land, Always Was, Always Will Be.
